Football fans in Vietnam will get more options while enjoying greater access to the tournament

Vietnam, 5 October 2018 – In a deal aimed at providing more options for Vietnamese viewers, Next Media has acquired the exclusive pay-tv rights to distribute and broadcast the Group Stage, Semi-Finals and Finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 – Southeast Asia’s biggest football championship.

In addition to satellite and cable distribution, Next Media will be broadcasting the tournament via IPTV, radio, internet and mobile networks – effectively enabling listeners and viewers to consume the matches on-the-go via their digital devices. The Vietnamese broadcaster also plans to conduct public screenings in a bid to bring the tournament even closer to fans.

Mr Nguyen Trung Kien, General Director of Next Media said, “We are honoured to be the exclusive pay-tv broadcaster for the tournament in Vietnam. Football is Vietnam’s favourite sport, and we know that audiences will not want to miss the most thrilling match action wherever they may be or whenever they choose to tune in. We look forward to the start of an exciting collaboration that would bring premium and engaging content to Vietnamese football fans.”

Under the terms of the pay-tv deal, Next Media will broadcast all matches involving the Vietnamese national team including the Semi Finals and Finals, on a live basis, while broadcasting all other matches on a near-live basis.

This year’s tournament boasts a new two-legged home and away format which ensures that there will be more home matches held in each participating country. This will increase exposure for players in their home country and drive greater fan engagement as established rivalries are further enhanced. Together with VTV, who hold the exclusive free-to-air rights, the tournament will be accessible to Vietnamese fans across multiple platforms, more than ever before.
