The first round of AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 games did not disappoint as defending champions Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam all got off to winning starts.

And there were a number of standout performances from those involved as they led their countries to opening-day victories.

We've selected four players who shone brightly and ask you, the fans, to vote for which one deserves the Matchday One Player of the Round accolade.

Cambodia vs Philippines

Brunei DS vs Thailand

Myanmar vs Malaysia

Laos vs Vietnam

Reung Bunheing (Cambodia)

The Cambodian forward opened the scoring against the Philippines with a neat finish at the near post and showed a poacher's instinct to head home the winner in a 3-2 victory for the hosts that will go down as their best win in AFF Championship history.

Theerathon Bunmathan (Thailand)

One of the stars of Southeast Asian football, Theerathon Bunmathan excelled in the Thai midfield, where the left-back has also been playing for club side Buriram United this season. The 32-year-old had more touches than any other player and floated in a delightful cross for Teerasil Dangda to head home his record-extending 20th goal in the AFF Championship.

Syihan Hazmi (Malaysia)

The fact Malaysia left Myanmar with all three points is largely down to Syihan Hazmi, who got down low to his left to save Win Naing Tun's stoppage-time penalty as the 2010 champions secured a vital 1-0 win and their goalkeeper, who made three saves in a solid night's work, returned home with an excellent clean sheet to his name.

Do Hung Dung (Vietnam)

Vietnam captain Do Hung Dung scored the all-important second goal before half-time as the Golden Star Warriors eventually cruised to a 6-0 win over neighbours Laos. As well as his goal, the midfielder created three chances, won six duels, made 102 touches and played 80 passes with an 85% accuracy.
