Pratama Arhan has won the GOAL NXGN Award for Young Player of the Tournament after a combination of fan votes and the GOAL editorial team rankings throughout the tournament saw the Indonesia left-back claim the accolade following his excellent maiden AFF Suzuki Cup. 

The GOAL NXGN Award pitted some of the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup's finest up-and-coming talents against each other and it was Pratama, with a total of 60,122 votes, that was named the best of the bunch after a string of excellent displays. 

Pratama, who turned 20 during the competition, finished ahead of teammates Witan Sulaeman and Alfeandra Dewangga, who came second and third respectively, while Thailand's Thanawat Suengchitthawon and Cambodia's Sieng Chanthea completed the top five. 

The PSIS Semarang star, whose trademark long throw-ins make him a real threat from almost anywhere inside the opposition half, started six of Indonesia's eight games. Notably, he was absent for their first defeat of the campaign when he was suspended for the 4-0 loss to Thailand in the first leg of the final before returning for the spirited 2-2 draw in the return meeting.

Among a number of moments to remember, Pratama's biggest contribution came in scoring a late equaliser against Singapore in the second leg of the semi-final to take the game to extra time before Indonesia ran out 4-2 winners to advance to their sixth final.  

With his side struggling against the hosts' nine men, he was on hand to tap home a rebound off the post from close range in what proved to be the most dramatic game of the competition and a night to remember for the Garuda. 

Another that will live long in the memories of Indonesian fans came against their biggest rivals Malaysia when, 2-1 up in the decisive final Group B game, Pratama sent a left-footed effort from outside of the area into the back of the net to give Indonesia a two-goal cushion in a game they eventually won 4-1. 

Having only made his international debut earlier in the year, Pratama, a relative unknown outside of his homeland beforehand, displayed his full array of attributes throughout the competition, with his surges down the left flank providing opposition defences with a constant threat. 

His defensive qualities also caught the eye, winning 80 percent of tackles and well over half of the duels he was involved in, while he completed 76 percent of the 178 passes he attempted during the campaign. 

While Pratama fell short of helping his nation claim a first AFF Suzuki Cup crown, he is part of an extremely promising young Indonesia side that will now be confident of challenging for the title in the years ahead.
