The AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 came to a thrilling conclusion this week as Alexandre Polking's Thailand claimed a record-extending seventh Southeast Asian title by defeating Vietnam 3-2 on aggregate in the two-legged final.

When it comes to the all-important stat that is goals, it is a tie between Thailand's Teerasil Dangda and Vietnam's Nguyen Tien Linh as the duo shared the Golden Boot award with six goals. The two strikers were prolific as they took their sides to the final, but Teerasil missed the two legs of the title clash with an injury. However, he would still end up the happiest of the two hitmen as Thailand edged Vietnam to the ASEAN crown.

It is unsurprisingly AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022's Most Valuable Player who leads the way when it comes to supplying assists. Theerathon Bunmathan recorded an incredible six assists from the midfield as he captained Thailand to their seventh AFF Championship triumph. It is Malaysia's Safawi Rasid who comes second with four assists while Do Hung Dung's three assists helped Vietnam finish runners-up for a second time.

Clean sheets

Vietnam's Dang Van Lam led among the goalkeepers in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 as he kept six clean sheets in a row -- a new tournament record -- to guide Park Hang-seo's side to the finals. It was only in the first leg of the final that Van Lam's goal was finally breached by eventual champions Thailand. Such is the magnitude of his feat that the 29-year-old's closest competitor when it comes to clean sheets accounts for only two shut-outs.

However, it is Brunei Darussalam's Haimie Abdullah Nyaring who is the goalkeeper who made the most saves in the tournament -- an astonishing 31 saves from just four matches. The 24-year-old DPMM FC shot-stopper was almost single-handedly saving the blushes for Brunei DS who were back in ASEAN's showpiece tournament for the first time in 26 years.

Clearances

Laos were under the cosh throughout the tournament, so it is no wonder that it is their two centre-backs Anantaza Siphongphan and Nalongsit Chanhthalangsy who recorded the most clearances in the competition with 34 and 29 clearances respectively. Playing in his fifth AFF Championship, Singapore's veteran defender Shakir Hamzah, meanwhile, took a joint third in the list with 22 clearances alongside Myanmar's Ye Min Thu.

Chances created

Thailand's dominance in the tournament is evident when you see that three of their stars occupy the top spots when it comes to chances created. It is AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 MVP Theerathon Bunmathan who created the most for his side with 30 chances while Teerasil Dangda and Ekanit Panya came second and third with 13 and 12 chances. Meanwhile, Vietnam's Do Hung Dung also created 12 chances to lay claim to third place followed by his teammate Nguyen Van Quyet with 10.

Teerasil Dangda for one knows it for a fact as the tournament's joint top scorer leads when it comes to shots with 21, of which nine were on target and six yielded goals. Vietnam frontman Nguyen Tien Linh needed fewer attempts to score his six goals as he recorded 17 shots while the War Elephants duo Bordin Phala and Peeradon Chamratsamee shared the third place with 13 shots.

Who else but Theerathon Bunmathan again to top the list when it comes to passes recording 697 -- 145 more than his teammate Kritsada Kaman who takes up the second place. With Pansa Hemviboon (473) and Sarach Yooyen (455) making up the third and fourth places, it is now wonder Thailand are the team that made the most passes in the tournament at 4,436 followed by Vietnam who recorded 4,107 passes.
