VOTE: Matchday One Player of The Round
With all the participants of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 having now taken to the field at least once, and with a few days break before the next round of matches, we take a look at some of the star performers from the opening ties and let YOU have a say in who was the stand out player.
We begin with those who shone in the Matchday one ties that included:
Adisak Kraisorn
It's impossible to begin this list with any other name than Thailand's six-goal star Adisak Kraisorn. A hat-trick completed just after the half-hour, with the double hat-trick completed in the second half as the Muangthong striker ran riot against Timor-Leste.
Adisak's tally included a variety of different finishes with arguably the best his second when he played a delicate lob over goalkeeper Aderito Fernandes. The 7-0 win against the Timorese saw Adisak and Thailand begin their title defence in the best possible way.
Nguyen Cong Phuong
One of the stars of the 3-0 away win over Laos in Vientiane, Nguyen Cong Phuong opened the scoring at New Laos National Stadium as Vietnam got their AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 campaign off to a winning start.
The 23-year-old forward could have had a second and made it 4-0, but was denied his brace by an offside call from the assistant referee. Nevertheless, "Vietnam's Messi" was undoubtedly one of Vietnam's best on the night.
Hariss Harun
What a moment it was for Hariss Harun and the Singapore supporters in attendance at Kallang's National Stadium! Indonesia's defence failed to deliver Gabriel Quak's delivery from the right and Hariss was in the right place from 12 yards out to send the Lion City into raptures.
The Johor Darul Ta'zim midfielder's vital strike saw Fandi Ahmed's side get off to the best possible start at AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 with a win at their first attempt, and over the 2016 runners-up no less. The importance of the win in Singapore should not be overstated; at the last edition of the tournament the Singaporeans failed to record a single group stage victory.
Zaquan Adha
An all-action performance from Malaysia's captain on the night Zaquan Adha might not have earned him the Honor Man of the Match award - given to match-winner and striker partner Norshahrul Idlan - but for sheer workrate and industry, the skipper warrants his nomination for MD1 Player of the Round.
Should Malaysia look to go far in this years' tournament it will be to the likes of Zaquan - and twin-brother Aidil Zafuan who was solid at the back - that they turn to for big performances when it matters.
