With the AFF Suzuki Cup taking short break before Malaysia and Vietnam face off in the final, we take a look back at one of the key factors that makes the tournament so special: the fans.

The five-week long festival of football would not be the same without the carnival atmosphere generated by the colourful support. We’ve picked out five of the best fan moments for you to enjoy and then vote for your favourite at the bottom of the article.

A friendly goodbye

It’s difficult to pick out a best moment from Bukit Jalil Stadium, where the noise has often been deafening on Malaysia’s march to the final. But it’s hard to beat the Ultras Malaya singing a warm ‘sawadeekrup’ to their Thai neighbours following the first leg of the semi-final. Southeast Asian unity at its finest!

Street party in Hanoi

The Vietnam supporters have become used to taking to the streets during a fantastic 2018 for their national side. After the Golden Stars confirmed their place in the final by defeating the Philippines, we followed their fans outside and went LIVE from Hanoi to capture a nation in celebratory mode.

More togetherness

To Rajamangala Stadium, where Thailand in Indonesia gathered outside pre-match to enjoy a little sing-along. Great to see the Garuda support made welcome in Bangkok and, although they were defeated, we hope they returned home with some happy memories.

Music in Mandalay

Here’s a jovial clip from Mandalay, where an array of musical instruments helped create joyous scenes during Myanmar’s victory over Cambodia. The team did their job on the pitch while the band performed superbly off it. You’d pay good money to watch that!

A day to remember

Finally, we return to Bukit Jalil for a second helping. At half-time during Malaysia’s crucial clash with Myanmar, Roshan Gunnasakaran raised the stakes even further by proposing to his girlfriend, Shinna Teh, in front of more than 80,000 spectators. Shinna accepted, the Harimau Malaya won – a great day for Roshan!
